Journals

Follow the journals you read, and ForeverLM reads their new articles against your Projects. The ones that fit are offered inside the Project — you decide whether each becomes a source. Nothing is added to your library until you say so.

Following a journal

Open Settings → Journals and paste a journal's home page or its RSS link — for example https://www.nature.com/nrm or https://www.nature.com/nature.rss. Paste several at once, one per line, and click Follow. ForeverLM finds the feed the page advertises, so the home page is enough.

Each journal is checked about twice a day, and right away when you follow it. Unchanged feeds cost nothing; a journal's row shows when it was last checked and any error the publisher returned. Check now re-fetches every journal.

Which Projects are watched

Every active Project is watched. In Settings → Journals → Projects, switch off the ones that should not receive suggestions. A Project you create later is watched automatically.

Each Project is described to the matching step by what you have written in it: the title, the standing instructions, the research questions, and a sample of the sources already in it. The more precisely the Project says what it is about, the sharper the suggestions. A Project about "mitochondrial quality control in ageing muscle" gets the cristae paper and not every cell-biology paper of the week.

Answering a suggestion

Open the Project and its Sources. New matches wait at the top under New in journals, each with the journal, the date, the title, and one sentence on why it fits. Click the title to read the article in your browser.

• ✓ Add imports the article as a paper — the PDF is fetched through the same path a pasted link takes, including your own publisher login in ForeverLM's reader — and adds it to the Project.
• ✕ Dismiss removes the suggestion for this Project. The same article is never offered to that Project again. Another Project it matched keeps its own suggestion.

The Project overview's Sources card shows how many suggestions are waiting.

Being told

When a check finds matches while ForeverLM is open, a short message appears in the window. To hear about it when ForeverLM is in the background, turn on Notify me when an article matches in Settings → Journals; the banner names the Project and opens its sources when clicked. It is off unless you turn it on.

Cost

Matching is one AI call per batch of up to forty new articles, charged to your AI balance and listed in Settings → Usage as Match Journal Articles. Its model follows your Background default and can be changed under Settings → AI Models → Background.

What stays on this Mac

Followed journals and pending suggestions live on the Mac that follows them. An article you add becomes an ordinary source and syncs to every device like any other.
